WHAT WE DID

River Clyde Homes

Up Close with Scotland's newest social housing landlord

As the newest social housing landlord in Scotland, River Clyde Homes (RCH) appointed DADA in 2008 to help them stamp their mark on the industry. Rewarding this faith by delivering 16,000 visitors to an exhibition in Greenock in just 14 weeks is just one of the ways in which DADA’ ‘Up Close’ campaign helped put RCH firmly on the map.

DADA proposed a 9-month tenant engagement programme entitled ‘Up Close’ which included a multi-site exhibition, website and award series.

Striking a real chord with local residents and international visitors alike, the ‘Up Close’ exhibition documented the past, present and future of social housing in Inverclyde using video, photographs, audio and local artefacts. The wealth of materials collected for the exhibition will provide a valuable resource in years to come.

The campaign was supported by the UpClose Website encouraging users to upload their photos, videos and stories for inclusion in the exhibition. The site was hugely popular with many users from across the globe posting comments and images, allowing residents past & present to share their memories.

In conjunction with the Greenock Telegraph, DADA also launched a search to find six ‘Real Community Heroes’ living in River Clyde Homes properties. RCH was delighted to highlight these ‘Real Community Heroes’, whose selfless work reflected the community spirit in Inverclyde, and received comprehensive press coverage which in turn relayed a positive message to the wider community.
