A fishy start to the year
Tweed, waders, rods and rolls were out in force as Hilton Dunkeld House hosted the launch of the salmon season on the River Tay and our intrepid team was there to capture all of the action from the most hotly anticipated date in the angling calendar.
With over 200 guests from local businesses, members of the Dunkeld and Perthshire local community as well as a host of bacon butties, photographers and TV crews braved freezing temperatures to capture manager of St Johnstone, Steve Lomass, cast the first fly to officially open the season.
One photographer (who will remain nameless) took the enthusiastic leap of taking his shots from the river bed. However with the barometer hitting minus five, a step too far meant he landed in the cold stuff and was reduced to warming his sodden clothes in front of Hilton's log fire. At least his quick thinking meant his camera was saved!
